Chapter 1 - Scientific Notation

Allows for the representation of large and small numbers expressed as a number between 1 and 10 multiplied by a power of 10. For example the number 1,000,000 would be expressed as 1 x 106. And 0.000509 would be 5.09 x 10-4

105 = 100,000
104 = 10,000
103 = 1000
102 = 100
101 = 10
100 = 1
10-1 = 0.1
10-2 = 0.01
10-3 = 0.001
10-4 = 0.0001
10-5 = 0.00001
